Short post, but I was too excited not to post. This is an excellent week for my fandom obsessions. Foundation returns Friday, and then I just found out that we're getting a new Murderbot short story on Thursday, available here.

( Spoilers for the series so far... )

comments

Having been bit quite hard by the hyperfocus bug, here's my next mapmaking update.

( Map WIP content under the cut... )

On a totally unrelated note, I tend to listen to sound mixes (either ambient or brown noise), both at work and when working on a project like this. I tend to find it hard to focus when I listen to music, and I have to work in an open office at work (boo). I really like the mixes on this site: https://mynoise.net/--the guy who hosts it is pretty obsessive about going out and recording sounds for it, so the quality is a lot better than the ambient stuff you get on YouTube. My two favorite mixes right now are Glacier Chorus (for the sort of deep water noises) and Irish Coast both for the low undertone and the fact that it works pretty well to drown out ambient noise in the office. (Today's map work was done to the Medieval Village mix, but with the bells turned off.)

comments

My last campaign went on indefinite hiatus due to a player having a kid (which--fair!), but I hadn't been inspired for what I wanted to do next for some time. My last campaign had a lot of deep worldbuilding and lore, and while I'll definitely revisit it in the future, I haven't been feeling inspired to go back to it yet, and nothing else had quite caught my attention.

( More D&D rambles under the cut... )

comments

Wow, it's been a while since I did an intro post for a personal journal instead of posting in a fandom journal.

You can call me Elana on here. I've been on this site since around 2011, and came over in the Great LiveJournal Exodus. I'm a veteran of Bleach and BBC Sherlock fandom. These days, my big fandom obsession is Foundation, which...does not appear to have a big fan base on here at the moment. But oh well, it has at least one person on here now!

Apart from that, other things you can easily get me talking about include:

Murderbot Diaries

Animorphs

Steven Universe

Beyond that, I occasionally run D&D games, and I'm working on a series of maps for a new game, so I'll probably be posting about that a fair bit.

comments
